Trio Iberia is dedicated to Spanish classical music. Formed by Johanne Morin, violin, Julie Trudeau, cello and Michel Beauchamp, seven-string guitar, these excellent musicians have extensive experience in the field of chamber music.

Spain has a musical tradition mixed with the cohabitation of several people on its territory. Think of the eight centuries of Arab presence, to Sephardic Jews and gypsies came from East who spread their traditions, ways of life and their music in the soil of the Iberian Peninsula. Flamenco resulting from this mix was then found implicit in the Spanish classical music. Oriental accents color this music making it more exotic.

The repertoire of the trio consists of re-instrumentation of orchestral works and piano of the greatest Spanish composers such as Isaac Albéniz, Enrique Granados, Manuel de Falla and Joaquin Rodrigo made by Michel Beauchamp. This formation allows many possibilities, making lyricism and passion inherent in this music. Flamenco accents and imitation guitar in these classics back to life in a most faithful form to the original inspiration.

In its first year of existence the Trio Iberia was the finalist at the Prix Opus 2015. Trio Iberia was also chosen for a concert tour by the Conseil des Arts de Montréal in 2017-18 and won the prize Public choice. The Trio produced a record of its repertoire in 2017.

Johanne Morin and Michel Beauchamp met at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montreal where they each obtained first prizes in performance. Michel then studied in Canada and Spain with great guitar masters like Manuel Barrueco, Alvaro Pierri and David Russel. He recorded for Atma label with the soprano Adrienne Savoie and the integrals Bach and Tárrega for XXI-21-Universal. He also founded the Atelier de Guitare Flamenca.

As for Johanne, she then went to England for two years to study with José Luis Garcia. She has toured in Europe and Asia with different chamber music formations and with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. Johanne Morin is a member of the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, assistant first violin solo of the Orchestre Métropolitain and of the Orchestre Symphonique de Trois-Rivières and a member of the Orchestre Symphonique de Laval.

In 2010, Johanne met Julie Trudeau who joined the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne Disciple of Walter Joachim, Julie pursued her training in Paris with Philippe Muller. She has performed as a soloist with various orchestras in Quebec and as the cellist of the Molinari Quartet (2000-2007) with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and the Esprit Orchestra of Toronto. Over the years, Julie has been invited as soloist and chamber musician to numerous festivals and concert societies in America, Europe and Asia.
